Welcome to the website of Taiyu Okatani, currently an Associate Professor at Department of Advanced Machinery Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Tokyo Denki University, Japan. My research lies at the intersection of nano/micro engineering and robotics, with a focus on advanced sensor technologies based on MEMS (microelectromechanical systems), metamaterials, and flexible electronics. By integrating novel sensors created using micro/nanofabrication techniques into robotic systems (and more broadly, "mechano-informatic" systems), I aim to develop novel robotic sensing systems that will revolutionize the human-robot collaborative society. "Think, act, and innovate." - this is the mindset of my research, always pursuing technology that is valuable to society, both theoretically and practically. By exploring new possibilities for robots equipped with advanced sensors, I hope to contribute to a better future in which humans and robots coexist.
